Pathways to Self-sufficiency & Employment Stability Programs


Basic Food Employment & Training Program (BFET)

A program designed to help individuals receiving food assistance (federal) access job skills training opportunities, receive support services such as child care and transportation, as well as individualized job search, job placement and post-employment retention services through one-on-one coaching with a bilingual case manager.


Limited English Proficiency Pathway (LEP)

To assist LEP TANF parents, Refugee Cash Assistance (RCA) recipients, and eligible refugees enter the workforce.  We do this by prioritizing services to refugees during the first year in the United States; unemployed refugees who are not receiving cash assistance; and employed refugees in need of services to retain employment and achieve long-lasting economic independence.   
 

Resources to innitiate Successful Employment (RISE)

A program that emphasizes barrier reduction through a stardadized approach to comprehensive case maangement through career coaching, referrals to other providers, opportunities for work-base learning, including pre-apprenticenships, career exploration adn the intregration of vocational skills and employability skills with on-the-job-training.  Participants also receive instructor led discussions which includes topics such as balancing work and life stress management, problem solving, health and well being and critical thinking, which assist with enabling management of everyday life challenges.


DVR Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP)

PSTC is a DVR Community Rehabilitation Program (CRP) responsible for employment and job retention services for clients. PSTC provides 4 weeks of customized training for the DVR clients in the warehouse industry. PSTC training consists of

Community based assessment.
Job development,,
Employment Support
Job Skills training.

Customers are referred from DVR Offices around King and Pierce County.

PSTC is accredited by CARF to provide the following services to DVR customers:
job development, job support and employment planning services.

 



PSTC Employment Services Include:

 
  • English as a Second Language resource referral
  • Financial Coaching & Job Readiness Life Skills
  • Comprehensive Case Management & Career Planning Services
  • Direct Job Placement Assistance & retention services
  • Customized Job Skills Training in the areas of: First Aid/CPR/AED; Forklift and Pallet Jack Certification; Warehouse Order Selection and Computer Training.
  • Work Experience Opportunities
  • Support Services


Counselors / Custom Training

Time: morning, afternoon, or all day
Puget Sound Training Center (PSTC) provides customized Warehouse Career Training for L&I and DVR clients.
 

Labor and Industry (L&I)

PSTC provides training to individuals who have been injured while working on the job and who need to be retrained for employment in a different occupation.

PSTC has developed training programs customized for private companies who are L&I service provider contractors. PSTC customized specialized training program include:

  • Forklift operation and certification,
  • Office clerk/Administrative Assistant
  • Computer training, entry level & advance
  • Warehouse Order Selection training including shipping, receiving and inventory
  • Electric pallet jack training and certification.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED
